What’s the difference between Drive Downloads Lite and Pro?
Lite helps you insert public (or already shared) Google Drive links into WooCommerce downloads. It doesn’t change permissions or control access per order.
Pro adds private, automated access control: it grants access in Google Drive when the order is completed, can revoke it on cancel/refund, and lets you use buyer-only folders instead of public links.
How does automatic access per order work?
When an order reaches the status you configure (for example, Completed), the plugin:
Finds the Drive folder/file linked to the product.
Grants access in Google Drive to the buyer’s email (with the access type and permission level you chose).
Logs what it did in the WooCommerce order notes.
If the order is later cancelled, refunded or trashed, the plugin can automatically remove that access again.
Does Drive Downloads Pro move or modify my files in Google Drive?
No. The plugin never moves, copies or edits your file contents.
You manage your folder structure directly in Google Drive; the plugin only:
Adds or removes permissions for specific users.
Generates and manages links according to the rules you set.
Can I stop customers from sharing or downloading the files?
Yes, up to what Google Drive allows. For each product you can:
Use private, email-only access instead of public links.
Restrict access types (customer only, Gmail-only, public, etc.).
Use Google’s own security options like “block download/copy” for viewers or prevent editors from re-sharing.
This lets you reduce unauthorized sharing while still using your existing Drive account.
What do I need to use Drive Downloads Pro?
You’ll need:
A WordPress site with WooCommerce active.
A Google account (Gmail or Google Workspace).
A project in Google Cloud Console with:
OAuth 2.0 credentials (Client ID + Client Secret).
Google Drive API enabled.
